3 Fitness Motivation Ideas For Women Worth Trying

One area where men and women aren't so different is in having difficulty with fitness motivation. While many people set fitness goals for themselves, very often they find it hard to actually get started or remain consistent about exercising. For the lucky few, who are naturally focused and disciplined, this isn't a problem. At one point or another, however, everyone finds it a challenge to work out week after week. While motivation isn't always easy, there are ways to keep yourself moving ahead when the going gets tough. Let's look at three proven fitness motivation approaches that are especially effective for women.

One method that helps some women get motivated is to think about another time in their lives. They find it useful to picture themselves at a time when they looked and felt their worst. They find that this gives them a reason to maintain their fitness program so they don't revert back to this unwanted state. This can be done either using props or just your imagination. If you really want to remember what you looked like at this time, put an old picture in a prominent place. The alternative is to use a mental picture instead, and just recall it when you need extra motivation. Don't forget to create goals for yourself, as this helps you to monitor your progress.

Sometimes the methods women use to keep up their motivation are a little unusual. Finding people at your fitness or health club who are not in the best of condition, whether male or female, and observing them is one such unusual motivational method. You might see some newcomers who are trying to lose weight but still have a long way to go. Looking at someone like this, you become aware of how you might look if you don't follow through on your goals. You may then have an additional reason to finish your workout instead of going home and relaxing.

Despite our good intentions, there will be unpredictable events that make it impossible for us to do what we planned. Don't get thrown off course just because you had to miss a workout one day. You don't have to let one missed workout make you feel like you've abandoned your goals for good. Whatever happens, look to the future hopefully so you can continue making progress. The best approach is to look to the future rather than focusing on setbacks. Negativity and self blame will not help you with your fitness goals, so dispel them as much as possible. Self criticism can lower your confidence and drive to succeed.

Remaining positive when working on fitness motivation for women is often hard. Be as single-minded as you can while exercising, and for that time, let your fitness goals be your main concern. There's no single best method for everyone when it comes to staying motivated. While a certain technique may be perfect for another woman, you might need a completely different one for yourself. Everyone is wired in a certain way, that's all there is to it. You shouldn't get discouraged then, as sooner or later you'll come up with a strategy that's ideal for you.
