A Look At How Carbohydrates Help Losing Weight

By Vincent Pham

It is amazing how carbohydrates help losing weight! But isn't it true that carbohydrates are the main cause of weight GAIN? Well, this is indeed true - IF you are eating the wrong types of carbohydrates, that is. So, with that - here is a short summary of the difference between the carbohydrates - along with a few tips on how eating the good "carbs" can actually help a person to drop some pounds:

It's physiologically "logical". If you are a person who mainly eats things made of refined sugars and flours - in other words, simple carbohydrates - you will probably eventually notice a gain in weight. This happens because simple sugars are quickly absorbed into the blood stream, and this causes your blood sugar levels to rise.

To combat this, your body must produce insulin. Insulin is there to force any nutrients into the body's cells, which of course, also encourages fat storage. So, you end up gaining weight because of your intake of those simple carbohydrates.

On the other hand, eating complex carbohydrates - which includes foods like whole wheat pasta and grains - can work to your advantage in weight reduction in more way than one. First, because the components enter the blood stream at a slower rate, you don't get the "hungries" so much throughout your day - as your blood sugar remains at a stable level.

And, if you start to eat more things like brown rice and whole grain breads, you will not only feel "fuller", you will also lose that urge to snack constantly. And, this one maneuver alone could help you to shed those pounds.

So that was just a brief summary of how eating complex carbohydrates instead of simple ones can help a person to lose weight, instead of gain it. And, if you are interested in pursuing the subject a bit more in-depth, than just hit the web and so some research on the topic yourself!
