Truth About Running and Weight Loss

By Arlen Viruet

Running to Leaner shape? Of course, running decreases body fat.

Running is one of the best workouts as it is a dynamic exercise that really works out your body. When you run, about 100-150 calories are being burned depending on how heavy you are. It means that if you run every day, you burn large amounts of fats. Running is a better alternative to walking.

Running will not help lose weight if you do it only randomly even if it is true that running can lose weight. For example, you cannot say you ran if you only went from your house to your car in a running pace. Running in a slow pace or waling most of the time will not get you the desired weight loss.

Here are some helpful tips when you want the answer to "does running help lose weight" to be YES.

1. Do not lie to yourself. Cheating in your weight loss plan does not get you nowhere. When you say to yourself you ran but you didn't, it will affect no one but you.

2. Make a daily routine. You cannot expect to achieve your goal when you just run every little while. Excuses like "I don't have time to run" are not true. You can easily run for about 20-30 minutes a day. Make running your habit. If you need to make friends while running or you have to listen to music, do it! It is very important that you do this every day!

3. Change the way you eat and the food you consume. Running everyday does not help you lose weight when you eat more than what is supposed to. You have to change your diet to complement your running or you will never get good results.

Changing lifestyle also improves desired effects. Stand more in you sit in your office the whole day. Changing some minor things in your life can help you lose some weight and eventually makes your lifestyle healthy.
