3 Weight Loss Myths That Makes Dieting Even More Unpleasant

By James Deville

Many people, who want to lose weight, find a good diet plan to follow. It works well and the pounds fall away. Sadly, there comes a time when they go on a binge and fail to stick to a healthy eating plan. The feelings of guilt and remorse often result in a lack of willpower to avoid the dangerous foods.

People that go on diets and reach their goals are happy enough and stop their diet. Soon after though, they gain back the pounds and that successful feeling changes to failure once again. This does not have to happen though because if you can control your eating and keep exercising, you should be able to keep off what you have lost.

A popular diet myth lots of people believe is that small portions of food must be taken if the hunger pains strike. This is supposed to control the appetite. This statement can boggle the mind. A small treat will not make you full satisfied. In fact, it will just tempt your taste buds. An appetite cannot be controlled. It is not possible to do this because hunger drives are inherent. The right way to go about it is to feed it with healthy food rather than small portions.

A second myth is that you have to stop eating your favorite foods altogether if they are known to pile on the pounds. Naturally, it can be very difficult to follow through on and many diets fail because of this. This extreme decision is not necessary though. Eat the healthy stuff and occasionally indulge in a high calorie treat, after your meal. The key here is that it should be the exception, not the rule.

The third and probably greatest myth of all is that many people believe if they eat fruit, it is equivalent to eating refined sugar. Unlike sugar, fruit has good carbohydrates which give energy. It is bad carbs that make you gain weight.

Some people say to ignore the cravings you get for the refined sugars, but that is not that easy to do. It is myth number three.Cravings are strong and real. Eat some kind of sweet fruit instead of chocolate or candy. The sweetness may satisfy the yearning.

There are many other myths surrounding weight loss as well. Do not fall for them. Eat well, but eat right. If you are planning to go on another diet, make it your last. Eat an abundance of healthy foods so that you have no space for fattening junk.
